I have an old PC lying around I thought I could use for folding so will it work/do much? And I have 3 choices in GPUs, what should I choose?

Specs:

i5-2300 - 2.8 GHz

6GB DDR3 RAM

WD Green 1.5 TB

GPU choice: Radeon HD 3450, nVidia G100

Thanks

Every bit is useful, but don't expect to see a very high PPD. You'll be expecting between 20-30k PPD.

COMPUTER: Mobile Battlestation  |  CPU: INTEL I7-8700k |  Motherboard: Asus z370-i Strix Gaming  | GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 FTW ACX 3.0 | Cooler: Scythe Big Shuriken 2 Rev. b |  PSU: Corsair SF600 | HDD: Samsung 860 evo 1tb

I think that's a very high estimate.  I get around 55k PPD with a 4770k and a GTX 660.  Those video cards are basically nothing, so counting only the CPU, you'd probably be looking at around or a little under 10k PPD

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

I've seen where people get about 10k ppd with the CPU, can't find anything about the GPU, but I assume it would get about 10-15k. I might be a little generous, but I don't think it is incredibly far off.

Alright, changing estimate to 10-15k PPD.

Actually I misspoke - I get around 65k.  But point being those GPUs are a tiny fraction of the power of mine, and mine is getting ~50k, so I'd expect those (if they are even supported, and that is a big if) to get 5k or less.

points per day.  It's a measure of how much folding work your computer can do in a day.
