Sorry didn't realise you were European. In that case the Dutch part picker lists the G550 as 2 euro more and it's a LGA1155 like the G630, idk where the 775 is coming from...

That being said the G550 is actually a Celeron so for a pentium the G645 is 13 more euro and it should perform better than the A4 for the price increase. You can easily save a lot of cash on the motherboard to makeup for the extra 13 euro.

http://de.pcpartpicker.com/part/asrock-motherboard-a75mhvs

That's 50 euro, going with the pentium and a 1150 motherboard also from ASRock:

http://de.pcpartpicker.com/part/asrock-motherboard-h61mgs

That's only 38 euro, means you spent 1 extra euro overall and you get a pc that is a bit more upgradable than the FM1 socket and should beat the A4 in general computing.

about the 775, looked at the wrong spot on a page *derp*

anyway first of deutschland =/= dutch, that's germany and they don't really ship to the Netherlands :P

So the g550 is 41 euros over here including shipping (from azerty) so that's only a few euros more and no problem.

then for the motherboard, i need ddr3 and sata 600, the cheapest board with that over here is the ASRock B75M-DGS which will cost me 52 euros, which is also a few euros more expensive.

Now that's a 10 euro's more expensive system, which is no problem. It has a lower tdp and better performance in non-graphical areas. The only drawbacks are that that "cheap" motherboard has 2 usb 3.0 ports (instead of 4) and no HDMI out. But here's the catch, I might make this build into a HTPC later on, and then a HDMI out is very convenient and so is the better on-board graphics. But i guess I can upgrade to a dedi graphics card by then...

I have never build an AMD system before and for this pricepoint i imagined the AMD being the better choice overall, but now you are making me reconsider... ;)

Okay it looks like the intel stock cooler is also a bit smaller, I don't know how the noise is but i guess it will be lower as this cpu has a lower tdp. I'm most probably going intel now, unless someone else has a reason to pick the a4-3400 over the celeron g550?

On the other hand, the amd a4 seems to be a bit more balanced, it fits the budget and the idea of an "extreme" cheap build. Also i like the motherboard for it better and the colours are better, yes I'm also considering colour schemes. Because it's going to be a build log I do want to make nice cable managing and a neat good-looking interior for fun :)

so what did you get ? AMD or Intel ?

I always feel that celerons are not worth the money, even for low budgets like that....

EDIT: just noticed your post about the build log so you went AMD , i think you did well!
