Hello,

My mother needs a new pc just for some work stuff and it needs to feel fast, be quiet and be under 200 euros. I already figured out all the parts and i was thinking of maybe doing a build log for this? Just to see how "clean" i can get this super-budget build and maybe also to show people how cheap a home-build pc can be.

the parts I'm going to use:

case: Fractal design core 1000

cpu: amd A4 3400

motherboard: ASRock AMD A75 A75M-HVS (micro-atx board)

RAM: Corsair Value Select CMV4GX3M1A1600C11

Storage: Adata S511 60GB SSD

PSU: not defined yet, probably a cheap low profile one from the computer store around the corner ;)

So should i make a build log for this? Or is there nobody out there who will deem this worthy enough for a build log?

~Cheezzzus

-edit#1- changed out the ram to a single 4GB module

One person if enough for me to make this happen, I will probably start building next weekend as the parts still have to be ordered and uni starts this week :P

I will post a link to the new topic once i create it for the actual build log :)

Change the ram out to at least 1600MHZ , it's very important to use high speed ram when using an APU. Also just use a corsair CX430 for the PSU should be fine.

Wont really matter, a4 is fm1. It is kind of really really really low power igpu so i dont think anything can even help it. This build wont play any games anyway.

So... If Jesus had the gold, would he buy himself out instead of waiting 3 days for the respawn?

Where are you shopping?

A build log would be nice. Nice cheap systems are less seen around here.

For that I would have to spend 10 euros extra (oh the horror) and to be able to use dual channel it would be 20 euros extra. I don't see the benefit in this, because this computer is never going to run a game and not even going to be used for watching a video. It's purely meant to be a bit future proof, silent, small and cheap so my mom can use it for her job and printing some stuff. For the 1600 mhz I'll be looking at a Corsair Value Select 4 GB module

i would get a bit more ram since 4 gb is the minimum

I run 6 GB in my gaming and editing system, sure 16 would help out more but it works just fine. More than 4 GB is just overkill for this cheap system...

Just deciding wether to go dual channel of single 4 GB module. Might be better for later upgrades (although I doubt it to be necessary)

Im shopping in the Netherlands :)

I will definitely build the system, now I'll also make some (a lot) of pictures and create a nice build log :D

Thanks for the support so far, I think this would be a nice little project :)

i would still get a little bit more that 4gb and for a webshop would recoment azerty.nl

Could you maybe get a pentium? It'll beat the A4 in performance.

Fort the price of the 14 i could get a celeron g465, which is a litle faster on single core performance, but on multicore it's slower.

Celeron's at that price point only have a lower tdp, better single threaded performance. But worse multithreaded performance and worse graphical performance.

Plus motherboards with socket 775 and ddr3 memory are way more expensive and don't even have sata-600, which will bottleneck the SSD a lot!

I'm using azerty for the motherboard and cpu, possible RAM aswell. For price monitoring I use tweakers.net, it's just brilliant for sorting out pc parts for the best price, quality and delivery!

Alright, I've decided to use Corsair Value Select CMV4GX3M1A1600C11, best price/quality and will only make me go 6 euros over budget if you include shipping :)

Also, my nephew is going to build his very first gaming rig with second hand parts (we spend under 450 euros ;)), which i searched for him. He's 15 years old and i'm going to help him with it. Might do a build log of that one if this one turns out to be succesfull :)

According to pcpartpicker the G630 is only like 5 dollars more and it runs at the same clock speed but with much better core performance (sorry amd)

You could easily save that back by choosing a cheap intel board. The asrock you chose is way overkill by the looks anyways.

G630 is 20 euros more expensive over here, Intel lga 775 socket boards are barely avaidable and non of them support sata-600, which is crucial to make the pc feel fast, like i stated earlier. Also a ddr3 board would be more expensive, and ddr2 memory modules are almost more expensive than gold atm... So overall it will be way more expensive and bottlenecking the complete system instead of making it faster and cheaper.

If budget goes up I'm mostly all-intel but in this case amd just wins (sorry intel) ;)

My nephew's system is not going to have an a4, he'll have a gtx 470 with an intel i5 2500k or likewise cpu (delivery for the 2500k failed, now 1155 cpu's are suddenly gone from the second hand market lol)

i had one system like this when i built it i had a single module of 4gb 1333 it was a verry big difference at gaming performance when i added a second one

There is going to be no gaming whatsoever on this rig, For gaming i would have gone with a better apu anyways :P

Sorry didn't realise you were European. In that case the Dutch part picker lists the G550 as 2 euro more and it's a LGA1155 like the G630, idk where the 775 is coming from...

That being said the G550 is actually a Celeron so for a pentium the G645 is 13 more euro and it should perform better than the A4 for the price increase. You can easily save a lot of cash on the motherboard to makeup for the extra 13 euro.

http://de.pcpartpicker.com/part/asrock-motherboard-a75mhvs

That's 50 euro, going with the pentium and a 1150 motherboard also from ASRock:

http://de.pcpartpicker.com/part/asrock-motherboard-h61mgs

That's only 38 euro, means you spent 1 extra euro overall and you get a pc that is a bit more upgradable than the FM1 socket and should beat the A4 in general computing.
