Upgrade Question

So for Christmas I got an AMD Fx 6300 and it is a good chip but I realized when I get a new chip it will be Intel. Also I was having freezing problems with it which may have been caused by the mobo or CPU.

Okay so I want to get a Intel Xeon E3 1231 v3 or Intel core i5 4460. I plan to do video editing in 720p and streaming in 720p, which will do that better. I think the Xeon will as it has 8 threads but are there threads stronger than those off the opposing 8 thread fx 8350.

I will pair these both this a Gigabyte H81M- HD2 (before you say this isn't the best board, my brother has this extra one and it works good and can fit 16gb which is what I need.)

All in all

-Xeon E3 1231 v3 or 4460

- Is the Xeon's Cores Stronger than the 8350/ will render faster?

Xeon cores definitely stronger than the 8350 and will render/stream faster than the 8350 or the 4460.

Xeon will be faster in most things, but the 8350 will be cheaper as you already have the mobo.

Yes I do have the mobo already but my computer keeps freezing like every hour. You may say it's a different hardware issue but I have tried multiple DIFFERENT ram sticks, hard drives, GPU's and Windows version. That has lead me to the assumption that it's he mobo or CPU so I'm just gonna switch right over

If you're swapping motherboard anyway, then going Intel is a no-brainer. And for your video editing work, the Xeon has hyperthreading and a bit more cache and clock speed to improve performance.

To bad you got a bad motherboard the FX-6300 is quite good for its price but a Xeon is even better!

Yeah but the AM3+ is dead, as is Haswell but I still prefer being able to go to a 4790k in the future istead or a 8350 or 97 whatever it is

True nothing beats the i7 but from Xeon it's not really worth the swap to i7...
