I'm helping upgrade my friends system and he wants to spend around $1000 but no more than $1200. He has a case and everything but wants a new cpu, mb, ram, and gpu. I was thinking about getting hi. The 4790k, asus Z97-A, Sapphire 390, and then 16gb corsair vengeance ddr3, and the corsair h100i. The issue is he has only about 650w psu, so I was also going to and the corsair 860ax psu so if he wants to upgrade in the future he won't have to buy another psu. How do you think i should spend that?

650W is going to be fine for just about any single GPU PC

Otherwise a Xeon 1231v3 is probably a better buy than that i7?

Otherwise start here, you still have room to fit in a free-sync display as well, they run about $300 right now for a 21:9 IPS 1080p one
