I tried to install windows 7 on my new PC but if I recall it had some errors somewhere regarding drivers. I think overall it wasn't compatable with my hardware.

  • MOBO: ASRock x99 Extreme 11
  • CPU: Intel i7 5820k 6 Core
  • Samsung 850 PRO SSD

Is there anything that I can do to have a clean install of Windows 7?

*1. Install your SATA HD or SSD in another computer, (old rig perhaps?)

*2. On this other computer, boot from your WIN7 Installer USB or CD. (90% of the time will recognize the disk to install windows)

*3. Begin your Windows Install.

*4. Only run the first portion of your Windows 7 install, the portion while you are booted from the USB.

*5. Prevent the computer from rebooting, soon as it shuts down cut power.

*6. Remove Sata drive from the old PC and Install it in your x99 system.

*7. Boot up your New x99 system selecting the Drive you just set up if you have multiple installed, the drive is primed to accept whatever system it boots into and the x99 chipset/win7 will auto-update registry to match.

I would expect Windows 7 to install fine on that system. I'm running Windows 7 on a Samsung 850 evo. During what part of the installation or set up did you encounter an issue?

Try using the Windows 7 ISO provided from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows7
