8800GTS Temperatures

So I have bodge-mounted one of these:

 

NEW-DELL-Optiplex-GX240-GX260-Desktop-DT

onto my old 8800gts PCB. I have pretty much gone overkill on the VRMS' cooling however, as they are stone cold. This heatsink plus the blower fan I attached to the side of it hit a max of 81 degrees in a game of rocket league, and sits at 50 degrees idle. I used arctic silver thermal paste...

 

Before anyone asks, I do not own the original cooler. So how bad is running this GPU at such a high temperature?

I'm just surprised you have an 8800GTS still working. My 8800GTS 512 died after about 5 years.

It came from an old watercooled hackintosh system. Thus why I do not have the original cooler

Ah, well at least it's still going. If I remember correctly 80ish is about the max you want to see with these.

That sounds pretty close to how my HD5870 ran. That was one loud and inefficient cooler...

 

I also remember drooling over the 8800 series cards when they showed up in Computer Shopper magazine.
