Hey. Im wanting to get a new computer as I am sick of hearing my fans when i leave my computer overnight to download things and stuff like that.

It will be used for:

  • video editing audio editing and recording, streaming, pod-casting
  • general home use and study
  • being a multi-tab beast
  • 1080p and future 1440p gaming
  • my first AMD building experience

Parts list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/hjJXK8

Some questions and explanations:

  1. im going to use Noctua low noise adapters on all fans
  2. it says something about a bios update in pc part picker. What is this and why?
  3. Im going to remove all hardrive cages so i should be able to fit the GPU
  4. I thought that 520w would be enough for a single GPU? I really want to stick with a fanless...
  5. It says NH-D14 but im going to use the nh-d15 but pc part picker didnt list it

Budget: no real budget but wanting to keep it within reason

Thanks :)

does it have to be amd

yep. The last bunch of builds ive dont have been nvidia and intel with the exception of one that had a 270 and a 4460. I want to do a full amd system. Also both the cpu and the gpu are great value and high quality components.

Unless you're making a very budget workstation then FX just aren't worth it. The higher IPC of Intel CPUs just make them better for gaming (they'd have higher minimum framerates and higher max too) and the fact that you can get an 8 thread Xeon for $40~ more makes the 8350 not worth it at all.

Thats kinda what im doing. Look at this. Im convinced the performance will be exactly what i need for a good price.

$500 is a budget workstation. $1500 isn't. Plus, that comparison is with older Intel CPUs. The newer ones (Like the Xeon, i7-4xxx...etc) will beat the 8350 everywhere.

i think ill stay with the 8350 but I will switch the ram. That Hyper X kit looks like a better deal as I wont be utilizing the 2400 speed. So what up with the BIOS and PSU compatibility issues

Alright, but you might get a bottleneck in CPU intensive games with an FX CPU.

Also, the PSU has an ECO mode where when turned on, the fan doesn't spin until 50% load.

Yes, but it's not the best for gaming. But if you want it to be budget orientated then your fine.

i game but im not exclusivley a gamer. Also i dont care what the cpu preforms like for gaming as long as it runs fine when streaming and keeps fps above 60. this is a budget workstation/home computer/gaming pc not just a gaming rig

what do you guys think about the fx-9590? Will that yield significantly better performance or is it not worth the money?
