Hello

so i have a rooted samsung galaxy s2 running cyanogen 10.1.3 over android 4.2.2

when i try to download an app, it says i have insufficient storage, when clearly there is more than enough for the app, as an example for the picture, i have used AppLock, which is about a 3 mb download, and i have about 180 mb of internal storage, thats according to my apps tab in the settings menu

i have tried clearing cache, and i dont want to delete anything off the phone as there are no games, and its only social media thats there atm

i have also tried downloading an apk file and trying to download it that way, but it still shows the same error

i hope you all can help me as i do need to get up and running asap with this phone

thanks

Even thought you have some free space, I think that is is reserved for app updates that you have currently installed. There is a way to expand your app storage if I remember correctly, by reformatting the partitions for different use (for example, the system partition is 1GB big, It can be reformatted to less/more GB), but it is difficult (I remember that it took me almost the whole day to do it (not because the process takes long, but because the tutorial wasn't really clear and I had to experiment a little on my own).

The fastest and best way is to buy a SD card.

I think that it cannot be done automatically, but you can do it manually. Go to settings, find "App" or "Application manager" (Something like that), click on it, find the app that you want to move to SD card. Click on it. It should open the info about the app. There should be a button "Move to SD card", click on it. Done, you have successfully moved the app (at least I hope). You have to do it to every app that you have installed, or at least to most of the apps. Not all apps can be moved, only the ones that you have downloaded from the Play Store.

Clear cache, than restart the device.

Clear any apps that you don't use often

Clear any downloads that you don't need

That will free up some space.
