i just got around to finishing my gaming computer but any time i boot into something other than the bios it had red artifacting around the cursor or any bright color on the screen and it will either black screen and freeze or ill get lines on my screen ive researched this and its symptoms of a dead card but i bought it brand new in november and only opened it to look at it i need your guys help desperately ive come to a stand still and dont know what to do

graphics card Sapphire R9 270x hyperX 4gb

Processor AMD fx 4350

EVGA 500w

Monitor dell 2015h

 

The monitor i know is used i cant remember if i bought the power supply used or not but i was thinking if my power supply isnt good enough for my parts would it cause my system to crash like that?

The psu is sufficient. Check all connectors inside and out, also post more details like are u using hdmi or dp or dvi 

im using a dvi to vga i pushed on the gpu to make sure its seated right i pushed it up a little when i was screwing it in could that mess it up

Artifacts do point to a bad graphics card. The fact that it's brand new, doesn't make it less likely to be broken. Quite the opposite. The first time you run the unit is the first time it's actually ever ran. Sometimes parts pass quality control even thou they can't handle actual real-world use. There's a term, dead-on-arrival or DOA. The exact numbers are very hard to extrapolate and often under NDA anyway but I believe in consumer electronics overall about 1% of units die during warranty and about 10% of that during the first month of use.

 

If there's any way, you should try it in some other computer or try some other card in yours.

yeah thats what i was fearing im going to try some other things like using a monitor with a hdmi output and it that doesnt work im going to return this and hopefully get a new one
