Hi, I want to know if the temperature of my i7-5820K is alright. Currently it is at about 45-50 degrees. However, when I play some games, it is at about 50-60 degrees. It is clocked at 3.6ghz. I use a Coolermaster Hyper 212X.

That temp is fine for Intel CPUs,especially under heavy load. You're fine.

What if I overclock it to about 4.2ghz? Will the temperature be over 90 degrees?

We don't know. Why? Because each Chip overclockes very differently, so it's quite hard to compare. I wouldn't overclock too hard on a cooler master 212

Okay, thanks for the help.

I´d suggest not to push too much on air. The X99 CPUs are quite big and even they´re soldered I´d recommend at least an AIO if you wanted to OC. Because even if your CPU sample doesn´t need that much Voltage, but temps over 75°C are not very desirable IMHO. After all it could shorten the life span of your CPU.

Thats probably because of watercooling.
