Not connecting to network/internet

Problem solved!

3rd LAN port on router is broken, plugged computer in the 4th port and it now works.

Thank you all for your help!

Like it says in the title, the computer isn';t connecting to the network, let alone the internet. In the network and sharing center is shows an X next to the internet (sorry for the screenshots being so big...)

When I open the network troubleshooter, it says an error occurred.

Should I post the results from the sfc scan ?

post-169207-0-56337800-1451647584_thumb.

Things i've tried:

-restoring from a backup(Using Windows Backup and restore)

-running sfc /scannow

-disabled windows update services

Am currently scanning it for viruses..

I'm all out of ideas.. Anyone know what's wrong and/or how to fix it ?

Few things to try:

Disable network adapter. Wait a few minutes. Enable again.

Unplug the router for a minute or so, then plug back in.

Hardwire to the router if you're not already.

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

usually fixes the errors sfc /scannow cant, worth giving it a shot i guess.

other than that, is the rest of the devices on the network fine?

Also I would like to add: If I restart the computer or disable and re-enable the network adapter, it will show the yellow ! between the computer and network , with the X next to the internet, and after a few minutes the yellow ! goes away but the X stays...(in the network and sharing center)

Hardwire to the router if you're not already.

1.Same things happens.

2. Has nothing to do with the router since other devices aren't having problems, but will restart anyway.

3. Using Ethernet, even switched cords just in case.

Are those separate commands or one big one ?

other devices are working. it's just this one computer.

I typed it as one command and it said:

Error: 87

The restorehealth option is not recognized in this context.

the DISM log file can be found at...

Should i post the logs for sfc and the command you gave me ?

You should check what it shows on Device manager on Network adapter section. Right-click > properties the network card and tell us what's the message (either saying it's working properly, have x problem, etc).

or you could try ipconfig/release and then ipconfig/renew.

For the Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller it says, This device is working properly.

nothing happened/changed.

EDIT: when doing ipconfig /renew it timed out because it was unable to contact (your) my DHCP server

Does it get a proper IP address from your router? If not, setup static IP and ping the router's IP address, other computers, 8.8.8.8, and google.com. That should test if the network service is running properly.

If you don't know what IP address to use, refer to your other working computers (using ipconfig /all). If it has the following:

IP: 192.168.1.33subnet mask: 255.255.255.0default gateway: 192.168.1.1DNS: 192.168.1.1

use

IP: 192.168.1.90subnet mask: 255.255.255.0default gateway: 192.168.1.1DNS: 192.168.1.1
