will a duel molex to PCI-e adapter power a cpu connecter?

No.

If your power supply doesn't have the connectors, you're gonna have to wait until you can get one with the correct connectors.

PCI-e power connectors are differently pinned than cpu power connectors.

I'm ordering a motherboard, CPU, RAM and case for my new pc. but i cannot afford the power supply right now and i would like to get my pc up and running before then, and the motherboard CPU connector is an 8 pin and looks alot like an 8 pin PCI-e connector for a graphics card. But i am wondering if this will power the CPU or if i absolutely need the 12 volt rail to power the CPU?

Thanks :P

EDIT: i have my old power supply but it has a 4 pin CPU connector and wont fit in the motherboard lol

1. if your existing psu does not have the necessary 6+2 pin pciex power leads, its unlikely to provide enough clean juice.

2. if you must give it a try, double check your psu rails, see how much juice is fed to each individual molex rail. 75W for 6pin, 150W for 8.

tldr, dont do it. maybe do it if you have a low power gpu, but even then its not advisable.

You can also get a 4 pin to 8 pin CPU power adapter. Most of the time normal motherboards only have an 8 pin to supply extra power for overclocking.
