Is it possible to access appdata from a backup?

What's up guys,

I backed up my laptop before I sent it into RMA. I backed it up by just dragging everything off the SSD and HDD onto a 1Tb external drive. Probably should've used an actual backup program but I was short on time. Anyway is there a way to access appdata off the drives because I want to find a save from a game... Thanks for the help in advance

I don't see why not, you could probably run the game straight off the drive if you wanted.

If you dragged everything under your C:\ directory, it should be there.

AppData is hidden folder. I don't know if it transfers with your user folder. Try un-hiding folders and see if you find it.

Others posts should allow you to backup the content. If you encounter problems, run with elevated privilege to do the file transfers.

 

Opening cmd as an admin/part of the administrator group and navigate to your/other user's %appdata% and copy files from there. You can also use similar methods like opening a program as admin and using the open file dialog to do the file transfers. It will use the same privilege as the user you used to run it as. That should solve any permission problems.
