so i bought these enzotech heatsinks for the vrm's on my evga 970 superclocked and i was wondering if it matters how thick the tape is? see picture below

or do i need to get thermal pads like these:

It matters more so about the thermal transfer or W/(mk) of the thermal pad (higher the better), the reason they use thermal tape instead is because it has an adhesive that holds the heatsink in place on it's own where most thermal pads are not sticky.

so getting a piece of thermal pad won't improve much you would say?

the picture i showed of the thermal pad above i can get and it sticks on both sides. but if the temps won't be a huge difference i'm not gonna buy them.

Well if your say doing something like a G10 AIO bracket or don't have heatsinks on them already they will help with cooling especially for VRM and VRAM. There are adhesive based thermal pads also where some extra thickness is needed.

well my plan was to use the G10 bracket, and use these enzotech heatsinks on the vrm's and i have a 80mm fan that will blow on the vrm heatsinks. but i noticed the tape is not as thick as thermal pads.

i think i'm fine because they're are copper and i will have a fan blow on them.

i was just asking if the thermal pads give a big advantage over the standard sticking tape that's under the enzotech heatsinks?

thinner=better

there is no point to buy additional thermal pads if the heatsinks already have some on them
