When it says optimising, that's what it means ... right? It's not defragmenting it?

The OS shouldn't defrag your SSD if it's properly installed. As @Virtual01 explained, one of the optimizations that the OS does is to perform TRIMing on the SSD. It cleans duplicate files, checks if there are unreadable sectors and distributes equally the files so the wear of the drive can be equal. :) Feel free to ask if you have other questions :)
