Hey guys, I have a budget of basically 1200-1280 and i'm trying to get a high FPS on most games such as CS:GO, blacklight retribution and other steam games like those. I built myself a decent gaming computer, with a high end graphics card (r9 390) and I just wanted to know if there are any bottlenecks that are easily improvable. I want a 144hz monitor because of the CS:GO gameplay effects and everything, and I also want it to be semi-future proof. I don't plan on overclocking (yeah i know shocker) but I would like a decent FPS with the build. Tell me about this build and the opinions you guys have.

This is a really solid build except for your graphics card and the WD Blue. Your graphics card will be extremely bottlenecked with that low-end of a CPU (your CPU is not low-end, but compared to the graphics card, it is). You may want to use a WD Black drive. Above ~$250 gives you very few FPS per dollar. The sweetspot for best FPS per dollar is around $150-180.

The 390 will not bottleneck the cpu

Please do not get a wd black drive, it is a waste of money.

You already have an SSD for boot, and the black drive will make games load one second faster, for a lot more money.

I don't recommend the 200R as it is a pretty small case imo, everything else is fine.

8GB of VRAM is probably too much, and if you want to future proof more get 16GB of RAM.

I have 2GB of RAM and I'm perfectly fine.

He has a 144HZ 1080p monitor, I would be surprised if he broke 2GB VRAM let alone 4.

If you want to pay the Xeon tax, know that your FPS per dollar is extremely low, and unless you're doing any mission critical work, you won't need a Xeon. Xeons are optimized for a very specific workload, particularly slower, repetitive, highly-multithreaded workloads.

the r9 390 still performs better than the 970

I didn't recommend a 970. (970 is 3.5gb anyway)

I didn't know the 390 was only had a 8gb version, my bad. I'm surprised it does because thats a lot of RAM considering the 980TI has 6.

I don't want to get the 4690K because I won't be overclocking the CPU anytime soon,. should I just go with the 4690 to not bottleneck my gpu that much?

I would, I am currently rocking a similar setup and I am doing fine load speed wise. (I still have my most played games on my SSD but I have no problems loading off my HDD).

Okay, so what would be the only thing you'd change about it? or is it okay, i'm wanting a 16gb memory but idk if it's gonna make much of a difference. and btw how do you put games into your SSD?

what would you recommend as a cpu for the build that I have now? should i stay with the 4590?

Any Intel Core i5 or Core i7 that fits in your socket. If you want, staying with the 4590 is certainly an option.

Ye could ye, but I think you should keep the O/C route open, its something you may want to pursue later down the line.

World of Warcraft bored the shit out of me, a year later I started playing (back when it was good)..... we change our minds lol

I like that but the thing is, I'm not really confident in my ability to do cable management for the case by myself, hence why I chose the corsair 200r because pcpartpicker did a build on it and I'm confident with the cable management. also, is the 6500 good? do you prefer that one or the 4690 normal.

that's true, but won't I need a cpu cooler to go along with it?

You can add that at the time, personally I think you should add one anyway, but it will push you over budget
