PSU help

Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

The model name is DR-8500BTX. I have seen some mixed reviews on Rosewill's products and I know to take parts on a case by case basis.

It's far from great of a psu but should still be plenty for your system.

Would it be beneficial to get a 600W PSU when I upgrade?

Nope.

I am moving my computer to a bigger case, with more fans

           my current build:

  • 500W PSU
  • Corsair H80i
  • 7850k Karavi
  • 16gb 1600
  • R9 270
  • SSD & HDD
  • Optical drive

Would it be beneficial to get a 600W PSU when I upgrade?

Nope but depending on the 500W, it will definitely be beneficial to get a different PSU.  So I ask, what 500W is it?

A generic PSU that came with my case

I would definitely upgrade it to any Seasonic or XFX unit or an EVGA GS, G2 or GQ.

The power supply I believe is a Rosewill 500W power supply, it came with my original case

If it's branded from Rosewill, it probably isn't a generic psu.

What's the model name?

Yeah, that PSU isn't great. It's a generic unit branded under many different brands. Check out the PSU whitelist in my sig for some good PSUs

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

It's a generic PSU yo

The system has already been running with it though. The OP is just swapping cases.

Just because it runs doesn't mean it should :)

Thanks for the info and saving me about 60-100$ on a new PSU.

It's still a generic PSU, branded under many other brands that I have never heard of. I would highly suggest replacing it.
