Old PC upgrade

So my grandpa dropped me off a bunch of old PC parts (I hoard them ;)), and he dropped off an old PC, so I booted it up with a pleasent suprise. It has an i5 2500, 6GB RAM, 1.5TB WD Green, no GPU ;(, and 2 DVD drives. Should I upgrade it instead of building a new rig? or would it not be worth it? The PC is an HP p6745f if you want to look it up. Thanks!

I've heard that the i5 2500 is still a very good cpu.
