Skyrim save not loading

Heyo,

I've gotten into skyrim this break, and have been adding mods to my game over the past few days using nexus mod manager. After installing an ENB, and a bit too many texture mods, the performance really took a hit (highs of 35 fps). After this I learned what were good mods (visuals vs performance), and decided the best plan of action would be to delete the game folder and start over.

When I did so, I noticed that a popup came up saying "this save relies on content that's not available" and that is expected, as the save records what mods are running. Previously this popup was not much of an issue, as it would just load the game with only the mods that were installed. This time around however, it crashes to desktop at the loading screen with all available saves.

I assumed the issue would go away if I installed only the critical mods (like some of the weapon mods, as I was using some of their weapons, and it would make sense that the game would freak out of it tried loading a weapon that was from a mod that isnt currently installed), however that did not help.

My question is what else could cause the game to crash when loading the save? as I have installed all that mods that are linked to the save, and it still crashes...

The game appears to start a new game fine, so the issue is limited to when the game tries loading the save.

Basically your save game is filled with orphaned scripts which will cause your game to crash. Download SaveGameScriptCleaner and that should fix the issue.

You should always use the utility I mentioned after uninstalling mods.

I saw someone on the steam forums say to use that, but it has not helped...

The game is unable to load the very first save right before the character creator, which is strange, because I did not have any mods back then, and the program you linked says "removed 0 orphaned scripts" for that save, so it should be clean.

I've used pretty much all the tools in the utility and reduced the size of the save by quite a bit, but it still crashes to desktop upon loading the save.

As a last resort, is there any way of transferring only important stuff like inventory, and quests from one save to another?

No there is not. Part of modding is accepting that it may nuke your save game.

In the future, just keep using the cleaner tool frequently, make sure load orders are correct. I had almost 300 mods at one point with zero instability because of this (I usually stayed away from super script heavy mods and ones that were known to cause crashes.)

Will do.

Do you by any chance know of any enb's that dont reck your framerates?

I've already tried project ENB, and sharpshooter's, and both took a significant toll on my fps.

Not really, I've used Mella Vonna which hit pretty hard and RealVision which can be performance friendly if you turn off Ambient Occlusion and Depth of Field along with a few other ENBs. Of course I was using 4k textures at the same time so that didn't help. The last one I used was Seasons of Skyrim for parallax textures which wasn't too bad of a performance hit but looked really good. I've heard that Vividian is a good choice for performance though.

Yeah, I went through a couple before getting to realvision, and while my fps dosent always stay at 60, its much better than the constant 20-30 fps I was getting with the other ones...
