I thinking to get an Xbox and before I heard it spies on you. I only just going to get the console no kinect.

What setting do I have to turn off so it stops spying on me?

you gotta microwave it and then put butter in it

I have an Xbox One, no Kinect. I'm not sure what you mean it spies on you? You can choose in the settings that it actually turns off instead of going to hibernate (so it can download updates in the background) when you press the button, but even when it's sleeping it has no eyes or ears. So as I said, I'm not sure what you mean it spies.

I don't know how Kinect changes this, but when it's turned off, it's turned off, especially if you kill the power (which I often do anyway).

I don't think the Xbox is "spying" on you. Without the Kinect, the Xbox will lose the voice control and imaging features which definitely reduces the amount of information collected. Otherwise, you can login into your Microsoft account on a Web browser and control the privacy settings for your devices, such as targeted advertising.
