When Windows Loads, Graphics Card Fan Stops

Snaek_

There are a few different things I've noticed about this, so I'll put them in bullet points.

GPU: Sapphire AMD R9 380

  • The fan spins right when I turn the computer on, as it should.
  • If AMD drivers are installed, the fan will stop the moment windows loads.
  • If AMD drivers are not installed, the GPU fans will work, but of course I gain no benefit from the GPU.
  • GPU will run at around 76oC idle, since no cooling. I'm 100% sure the fans should be spinning at this point.
  • GPU-Z claims that the fan is running at 1050RPM when it isn't running at all:

So, I think it must be something to do with AMD drivers. Maybe I should also mention that this is a temporarily unlicensed version of Win 10, since I'm still awaiting a product key from a friend, but wanted to start using the PC.

I'm at a loss for what to do, since I have reinstalled AMD drivers multiple times to no avail. Any help is much appreciated. :)

Probably due to the feature that turns the fans off when the GPU is under a certain temperature.

As others said, probably the drivers since it is under a certain load.

It turns off under a certain load percentage once the drivers are loaded.

Isn't it odd that GPU-Z says the fans are spinning though?

Check Afterburner. If the fans aren't rotating, and GPU-Z says they are, it's a false reading.

Yeah, MSI Afterburner has helped a lot. Thanks! This was my first ever PC build, so I'm super careful about everything atm.
