Hey guys,

My ram usage is at idle is 40% percent to 50%?

Im scared to game because im worried my system might start hanging...

System specs:

I7 4720HQ

GTX 970M

8GB Ram

1TB HDD

128GB SSD

Is there anything i can do about this?

Is there a problem with my laptop?

Is there a problem with windows 10?

Below i have added an attachment of my task manager

Thankyou!

If your system doesn't use up to 90% ram while gaming it's fine.

I use about 2-3GB at idle, and I have notification tray of a 4*4 icons so that's alot of programs.

As long as you don't run out of ram it's fine. Most game don't even go over 4GB anyway and most of the ram usage is vRAm.

Dude that's not idle... You have enough things open to use 3.5GB, it's fine. :)

i'll tell you something, disable cortana and windows defender get rid of chrome and use firefox and get another antivirus

Cortana gobbles up ram like a lil b, before it's due to it being in alpha ext. and bad memory leaks. But even now she takes up a good 500mb at least.

one word of heads up, don't use a 3rd party app that 100% rips it out your system. Just untick/unside/unwhatever the cortana in the options, or your won't be able to use the search bar.

Learned that the hard way.

Happened to me, used this funky asf script that removed it so bad that when I clicked the search bar it would crash my PC or lag it out for a a few minutes before spewing errors about missing X and Y.

i use to have this problem when changed the name of cortana's folder and also the start menu was really really slow but now i did restore cortana and the start menu is alive again. i don't remember which tool i did use but it didn't harm the OS
