Best Gaming OS

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

Lol. But why do you say that?

He is saying there is no difference.

Im planning on using windows 7 myself for my build. But i was wondering, what do you think the best gaming OS in your opinion and why?

This is like asking "which tastes better, a green apple or a red apple?"

Lol. But why do you say that?

Because some people will say Windows 7 because the games they play work fine with it and they don't see a need to upgrade or wary about the upgrade process messing up their system.

Others will feel similarly way about Windows 8 and 10 because their systems are stable and they are able to play the games they have.

So asking for "best" is pointless.

Windows 10 because of DX12.

What games use DX12?  I'd say Linux, but only if you're running it natively, because you get higher fps because of less bloatware.

Q: Do I have a virus?!
A: If you didn't click a sketchy email, haven't left your computer physically open to attack, haven't downloaded anything sketchy/free, know that your software hasn't been exploited in a new hack, then the answer is: probably not.

Q: What email/VPN should I use?
A: Proton mail and VPN are the best for email and VPNs respectively. (They're free in a good way)

Q: How can I stay anonymous on the (deep/dark) webzz???....

A: By learning how to de-anonymize everyone else; if you can do that, then you know what to do for yourself.

Q: What Linux distro is best for x y z?

A: Lubuntu for things with little processing power, Ubuntu for normal PCs, and if you need to do anything else then it's best if you do the research yourself.

Q: Why is my Linux giving me x y z error?

A: Have you not googled it? Are you sure StackOverflow doesn't have an answer? Does the error tell you what's wrong? If the answer is no to all of those, message me.

Even if no games currently make use of it, they will in the future.

That isn't a good reason for today though, it'll be a year at least before a game gets made that actually makes good use of dx12

Vulkan accomplishes the same low-level communication between drivers and hardware that DirectX does, to improve system performance. Vulkan will be for Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10, and Linux, and it seems that every major 3D game engine developer is implementing support for Vulkan into their engine. So DirectX 12 may not be needed.

There is generally no notable performance difference in games or applications between Windows 7, 8, and 10:

Windows 7 versus 10 application performance:

Windows 10 vs 7 gaming performance:

In the end, maybe it all comes down to which OS has the best compatibility for games, which is likely going to be Windows 7. Though Windows 10 has built-in video capturing, which could be convenient for many gamers. I don't know whether Steam has built-in video capture or not, for gamers on other OSes.
