Hey all.

After thinking for a while and deciding that I shouldn't bother with buying a really expensive laptop that I could "port around with me and bring to other people's houses", I've built up a new system on PCPartPicker and I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on my new build.

Here's the link: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/ihaterain5620/saved/ZTbMnQ I'm upgrading from this: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/cKxKrH

The stuff that's on there is all I need. I already have a hard drive, SSD, sound card etc. (the BD-RW drive's there as my two DVD drives are starting to go funny, the top one barely opens properly anymore and the centre one is starting to do the same)

Note about the list; while I haven't got the money right now, I have a small Saturday job that I'm using to save up for this build. If you think I can get better parts but it's a bit more expensive, then throw it at me. I am planning to do Crossfire with my already purchased R9 380x, and this is why the PSU is extremely overkill (it might even do 3x but I doubt I'd ever go that far). I want to stick with DDR4, and with the CPU I was originally going to go for the 5820K but a user on the forums here said to not bother with it and go for the 6700K, so I did.

Yes, the system's extremely overkill but that's what I want. :P

If you have any ideas, throw them this way. Thanks!

Change the i7 to a 6600K and get a 390(x) Also I'd recommend changing the SSD to a quicker one, like an 850 evo. Also you PSU is waaay overkill, even with crossfire 850w would be plenty.

Do you do rendering, editing or 3D modelling? If not, than the 6600K would be a better choice.

I'd like to start doing some video editing - one of these days I want to dust off my YT channel and start uploading stuff there. I do render videos from time to time currently but not every single day (maybe one or two a month).

Oops, just noticed that there's more here than just this post.

I was planning to get a M.2 850 500GB SSD to replace that Kingston drive. About the GPU though, I just recently got it, so I might leave that for a while. The 7870's going to my dad and I have nowhere else for my 380x to go :P

I think the only real question is do you need 32gb of ram.

Everything else you seem to want, so go for it.

Looks superb, buddy!

If you're happy with it, that's what matters. The PSU is good quality, at 1000W it's a little overkill and maybe an upgrade to a 390(x) would be good but other than that the machine is going to be good fun!

I can't really pipe up here, look at mine in the sig. Overkill.

Solid build!

Because f*ck it, why not? :P (but seriously though, I keep lots of stuff open at once and I'd just like to have the headroom. Plus, video editing and all.)

<snip>

Thank you! Yeah, I thought that the PSU would be, I'll look at prices. I was going to go for an 850w but the thing is that I could get that RM1000i for maybe £20 more, so I thought I'd just get that and roll with it.

EDIT: Updated the link to include a 6600K - I didn't realise those things were so cheap! (£100 less!) Oh, should mention that I've already got my GPU so I don't plan on changing that for a while (I accidentally left that in there).

Get another one for crossfire!
