Hey guys i hope you can help me with this problem.

Im on cable internet and one afternoon i lost connection and after that i couldn't play battlefield 3 because of "kicked by punkbuster no packet flow".

When they would come do some testing whatever it would fix itself and i could play for a week or two and the same thing would happen.....

After that i pretty much noticed also in other games like Planetside 2 when i have packet loss since i can see it on teamspeak every one would start teleporting.
So they would come switch modem, works then stops again and also all of those modems would reset themselves for no apparent reason, the guy also said that wires inside the cable might be an issue but they didn't touch that( and they won't now since they told me they supposedly did...).

At the end they a gave me a modem and a router which is awesome but i also saw that after a week or two i had the same issue, i couldn't play battlefield 3 and i would get packet loss from time to time but not as much as it was before. So i called them again and they said they tested signal and it is good and they don't know what to do so i proposed for them to come and switch the coaxial cables since they are 10+ years old which are this model but they said that's defiantly not the issue and that i should email their IT specialist about the ports. I tried everything, installing game on second PC but same issue so it isn't a problem in the PC, i also bought new ethernet cables but that wasn't the issue.

Now i have a coaxial cable coming through the wall near front door that is a bit damaged/scratched but two nails and every bit of the cable is pretty much tied with nail/plastic thingy so i don't know if that is an issue and on a lot of stuff the cables are slightly bent because of some corners but that cable goes into a splitter where one goes to tv and other to the modem, a few months ago we got a tv box which makes digital signal into analog so we get more channels and i don't know if this might be the issue? Also do you guys recommend changing the cables after splitter and changing the splitter, the only issue i see is that the shit coax cable that is coming through the wall is the one that is damaged a bit and i can't change that....?

They said the signal is good now and that i have no packet loss but i can still see like 1% and from time to time 5-10% so i do not know what to do now ....

Also when i use VPN i can play Battlefield 3.

Sorry for wall of text  :( .

Theres not really much you can do, depending on where you live other people might cause interference in the cable that causes a packet drop.

The ISP it self could have problems with their providers. Id say leave a ping to your ISP's DNS server over night and see if there is packet loss and then test some other remote server and see if it drops packets. This will help you identify if its a problem with YOU <-> ISP or ISP <-> INTERNET.

Something wrong with your connection ?

Run the damn cable :)

I formatted your post for you so it is not as much of a wall of text.

Good idea.

Also, right click your connection icon in the bottom right corner on your task bar (assuming you use Win7 or Win8).

Click "Open Network and Sharing Center".

Click Local Area Connection.

Click Properties.

Click Internet Protocol Version 4.

Click Properties.

Click Advanced.

Click the DNS Tab.

Click "Add...".

Type "8.8.8.8" and click Add

Repeat that but add "8.8.4.4".

Those two IP addresses are Google's public DNS's. If it is your IP's DNS that is the problem, that should fix it.

Did that, unplugged ethernet, plugged back in and same error.

It wouldn't ever be a DNS issue. DNS changes a url into an IP address, but once you've connected to a server (you usually use an IP in the first place) you already know it's IP and you have an open connection, you wouldn't have to query a DNS.

That few amount of packets lost wouldn't barely affect your connection.

Can you do a normal tracer outer for me?

Open cmd and type "tracert" + the ip of whatever your having problems with.

The main issue is Punkbuster usses random available ports so there must be an issue with modem and the cable.....

I want to make sure that you have a good connection to the servers that you're having an issue with. Punkbuster uses specific ports, it can't use random ones since it would be blocked by a router and by your firewall.

EDIT: I just looked into it, Punkbuster uses whatever port the game uses, so say BF3 uses port 4892 and 5029, then Punkbuster would do the same (those are random ports that I just mashed the keyboard to get).

I talked with punkbuster support a month two ago and they said they use random available windows ports, everything is disabled on router and it was the same every time, they reset or did something they can't explain and it fixed itself....
