Sup.
Been watching linus on Youtube for a while now, and thought i;d jump over to the forum for a change.

Im looking to upgrade my macbook's optical drive and replace it with an ssd.

I know how to do it, and ive pulled the macbook apart to clean it before, but my question is, what is the best ssd available in terms of price for performance?
Cheers

You should be fine with Samsung, as far as i know they still make the best SSDs out there. Do you have the mounting bracket for the SSD?

Thanks guys.
I know i need the mounting bracket for the old hard disk to sit in the optical drive bay, but i can pick that up on ebay for like $20 Australian.

Was thinking a kingston HyperX 240GB, instead of the samsung, but i guess its better to future proof myself.

Im going to be running some pretty intense software (Ableton, Traktor, Autocad, 3ds MAX)

My other question is - is it worth upgrading from the current 2 x 4gb of ram to 16gb or even 32gb?

Cheeers :)

There is no future proofing when it comes to SSDs, not sure what you're talking about...

Can't upgrade to 32GB of RAM, your laptop is not DDR4, maximum RAM per stick is 8GB.
