I went to try and turn my laptop on to find that it do0es not turn on at all like it does not have power. So plug it in and it boots up right away and so i get a message saying that the battery is not connected. I restart the pc (While its unplugged) and it works just fine. Now it says "Unknown remaining". Idk what to do and idk if it will still charge... Should i try to reinstall windows? Or is it a hardware issue?

Just try to charge it up for a long time. It might have died and you need to revive it.

It will say not charging when it doesn't charge.

Your battery is dead/dieing. Lithium-ion cells start degrading after a couple hundred charge/discharge cycles or after a few years. The way they go out is quite unpredictable and often the smart-electronics in them have real trouble keeping track of the situation. The only way around the issue is to replace the battery or at the very least to re-cell it.

Drain the battery totally and then charge it up totally while plugged into a running copy of Windows. Also maybe try a reinstall of Windows? That might be excessive but currently it sounds like you have a messed up battery.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.
