I'd still go for the 980Ti regardless of the price...

overclocks better.

That's at stock though, overclock it and the 980Ti will still be ahead.

Yeah but if we keep seeing AMD push out great drivers then the fury x will be the best no matter what

I know AMD lovers don´t like it when I tell them that the chip of the Fury X, even with its complete lack of real OCing potential, isn´t the problem. The card was announced for 4K rich gaming experience. But reality looks in demanding games unfortunately different.

Now let´s get one thing out of the way right from the start, no current 28nm GPU as single GPU can handle AAA games smoothly with turned up settings. BUT the downfall for me and many other enthusiasts is the 4GB HBM1. The card gets in games like GTA V in 4K (remember this has nothing to do with driver or CF) some serious frametime issues. In fact they get so worse, that I find this more horrible than the here and there micro stutterers you´ll get with SLI or CF.

This guy´s video isn´t super professional but it shows the problematic very detailed. And THAT is the reason why so many enthusiasts went with Titan X or GTX980Ti, not because AMD sucks or the card itself is shitty, no it is the VRAM situation.

All people that read this and think, what the fu.. is this guy talking about, go get a highend card turn 4K on and feel it yourself. My hopes are high for Pascal and Greenland, that we don´t have to live with compromises anymore, but a nice performance improvement and more affordable 4K solutions.
