Need Help With New PC

Go to solution Solved by dragoon20005,

The thing is that I didn't buy the key from a retailer....

Its OME from Dell (Did upgraded from Windows 7, the 17R die while it was upgrading in fact.... lol)

just tell a lie saying this is a desktop

OEM or not you should be able to get the key to work

So, my Dell Inspiron 17R kicked the bucket, it doesn't even post.

Now have $600 CANADIAN to spend from my own personal savings and my father giving me $300.

Main goal is for school work, 2th is that I've been dreaming of a gaming PC for about year and a half.

So we have agreed to wait until Boxing Day, to save money. (Am hoping with the price drops, I can get this build: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/f7FvBm)

If I have to buy Windows, its going to take bloody $130.....

However there is a Windows key within the HDD of my dead 17R......

Do you see where am going?

;)

Boot with that HDD on the new PC I build. Get the Windows key from the 17R HDD with jelly bean key finder. Then make a boot drive with my USB. Use the key. And install windows on my Seagate SSHD.....

Can that been done?

you should be able to get the key

but you may need to ring up Microsoft and tell that your PC has died and you got a new mobo so that you can reactivate the Windows

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

PSU is the same price as the one at my local store, for like 650W same kind through.

Thats an added $60, I only got $600. Just hoping Boxing Day will save me....

Want mATX because am going back and forth between houses.
