At the moment I've got the Asus GTX 960 STRIX card, but I want to upgrade.

Should I get the r9 380 (4gb) verison and sell my 960?

Would I see a difference in games?

That´s more a sidegrade than an upgrade TBH. Not worth it IMHO. If you wanted to upgrade for real you´d have to start with R9 390 and above.

I've only got the 2gb version

If you don´t plan to upgrade your resolution any time soon, which would be btw nonsense for a GTX960 or R9 380 to go to1440p or 2160p, I´d stick to that GTX960 for now and upgrade, when you have more money and we have new GPUs on the market. It is likely, that we see new GPU in Q2 or Q3 2016. And your GTX960, even though it´s just 2GB, should still provide enough computing power to play new titles (with maybe reduced settings of course due to the weak chip and lack of VRAM).
