Overclocked FX6300 problem.

So awhile ago I overclocked my CPU. It was a stable clock from what I remember, but then I went into CSGO and everything got weird. In an offline game I was running around like sonic... and in a DM I was getting lagged forward and back. I couldnt move withouth getting pushed back. It was like I running directly behind someone in CSGO (you know that stuttering you get). It was horrible. I don't know why it happened. I looked for a good while for a fix but found nothing. I ended up going back to factory defaults. It might be worth mentioning that I was and still am using a stock cooler. I wanted to test if I got much of a difference with an overclock before getting a cooler.

If it is important I will try and find out what I overclocked to (I'm pretty sure it's on a tomshardware post).

 

On a side note,

I got a r9 390 and when I tried to play arma 3 earlier I got bad fps. Would overclocking my cpu make much of a difference?

FX-6300 is overkill for CS:GO no worry there but Arma 3 nothing manages that good even a i7-4790K!

you overclocked your 6300 on the stock cooler?

First step is step is to see if your overclock is really stable. Check your temps with something like AIDA 64 to see if you arnt roasting your CPU, it will also give you your clock speeds. Where the AMD 6300 shines is overclocking, so you should go out and get a 20$ 212 EVO from coolermaster, its worth it. 

 

Also, the 390 is being bottle necked heavily by the 6300, and overclocking isnt going to fix the issue.

I play a lot of games but mainly cs. I really want to play more arma 3 but 23fps is no fun... If I overclock it would I get much of a difference in games that are cpu intensive like arma 2/3 or gta v?

Oh, I was thinking about upgrading my cpu to intel but that would require a new motherboard aswell. Is it worth getting an intel? Also, I don't want to get a fx8300 or w/e its called because the only difference is 8 core vs 6.

well from my experience in overclocking my 6300 when i overclocked mine from 3.5ght to 4.9ghz (NOT USING THE STOCK COOLER) i would get an average of like 5 to 9 fps more depending on the games sometimes less. 

 

But seriously check your temps your very likely burning your cpu up. Mine ran hot on the stock cooler on stock settings. Use Aida 64 to stress test and watch your temps

not a whole lot.... you might hit 30 ish FPS but thats not really playable IMO.

It is oh so worth it to get intel. But keep in mind it will cost around 500$ ish, with a new windows license (if your license is OEM), motherboard, and CPU.

Both those games does not run good on a FX the worst one being Arma 3 but GTA V should be playable!

 

Also if you OC to 4.5GHz most games should not bottleneck just a few...  (Arma, DayZ & Dying Light is three great examples of unplayable)

I only had it overclocked for about an hour before I reset it... and I haven't tried to OC it again because of the CS thing.

And those dont even play well on top of the line equipment lol... Well besides Dying Light. 

Killing Dayz with a 980ti and 5820k @ 4.4ghz at a solid 62 frames when around nothing lol and mid 20s and into the teens in towns lol gotta love dayz...

Dying Light is simply uncompatible with AMD hardware! (DayZ at 62 is good!)

Haha, I was getting about 20fps on lowest settings with my 7850 in the middle of nowhere. thats kinda the reason i uninstalled that game lol

So if I was to swap to a good intel + good mobo, what fps increase would I expect in arma 3/2 and gta v?
