£100 headphones

So my flatmate just won a prize for organising charity at work, with a £100 Amazon voucher. He wants headphones to travel and I suggested ATH M50X. Good suggestion? Any other ideas?

ATH M50X's are a safe recommendation. I use the non X , S version myself, very happy with them.

 

I do suggest however that if he is going to get some high quality headphones for travel, that he uses a high quality audio device as well. Like the FiiO X3K for example.

 

What about IEM's ? is he only looking for over ear cans ?

ATH M50X's are a safe recommendation. I use the non X , S version myself, very happy with them.

Nah the M50X's wont need an amp.

What I was getting at was a device to playback music. The X3K is a DAP, I guess u could call it a MP3 player on steroids, but would cost over £100 on its own.

Anyway its not a necessity, just something he might want in the future if he wants high quality audio.

Thanks, I'll research DAPs! Don't think it's for right now but I'll mention and see how he feels about future upgrades.

DT770s is my suggestion M50x's are overpriced.

Thanks alexyy, I wasn't aware DT770 32 ohm was close to price range, but they are, @£115.67. I'll suggest these also, though may have to wait for Jan sales :).

The 80 ohm ones are around £98 on Amazon which will be still easily driven via a Phone or tablet.

I do not own them, but I have heard people say that Philips SHP9500 is amazing for the prize.

Thanks for this, I've seen good reviews of this headphone, though I think closed back would be more appropriate for travel.

 

I've suggested he look for deals on M50Xs and DT770s in January.
