Very.  If you have to ask the question you probably shouldn't do it. IMO.

Is it risky to paint my motherboard?

What precautions should I take?

What spray should I use?

I don't recommend it, there's a lot that can go wrong.

I guess no one should do anything anymore, then. Let's all sit down and do nothing all day...

Sounds good to me.

Is it risky?, yes, but if you want to do it in the name of science then go for it.

Just make sure Murphy doesn't get you lol.

I wouldn't risk using traditional paint, but plastidip is non-conductive (obviously not the 'metallic' ones though) & removable (with enough coats). Make sure you tape off EVERY CONNECTOR extremely well. You'll want to spend more time taping than spraying. If any material makes it into a pci slot (or pretty much any connector for that matter) it's going to be almost impossible to clean out.

Wouldn't it be easier to find a MOBO that goes with your color scheme or accents your color scheme that you're going for?  The only thing that you could paint are the DIMM and GPU slots which wouldn't be too difficult if you cover the surrounding area and cover the top of the slots.  Because it'll be a pain in the butt to clean off the connectors if there's any over spray.
