so i use a very "simple" machine. from my knowledge it has 2 slots for ram, each 2gb each. im looking just to temporaly upgrade it for now. would it be ok to get 1 4gb stick. so then i have 6 gb. also im sure its ddr3. but when i look it up, theres a bunch of numbers after it. how can i find out which ram i have and how to find compatible ram for it. i dont care if cheap ram, as long as it works.

im always capping at 4gb ram during the day. be it tf2 at low settings or basic internet crap. the computer i use is a home computer. so i dont care if its got good hardware or not. just alittle extra juice. i would try getting a better cpu, but i dont have money for that and probably dont have enough power or cooling to get an upgraded cpu. as i said. its a very simple machine

What are your web browsing habits? Are you the type that has 20+ tabs open? 4GB is decent even today so I don't see how a regular user can cap 4GB. Either way, as long as it's the correct type of memory (DDR, DDR2, DRR3, etc.), it should work with no problem. Try to get sticks from well regarded brands like Kingston for better compatibility.

You don't wanna mix capacities, and ram is really cheap right now, like...i saw 30 bucks for 8 gigs, there is a kit of crucial that's around that, i'd recomend getting 8 gigs, the price is so low right now.

I'm currently running two 4GB sticks and one 8GB stick. Been running rock solid for 2 years. As long as it's basic memory, it shouldn't be problematic.

well not 20 tabs, but i play a small flash base game on chrome. long story short, ill have ~7 tabs of that game up during parts of the day. not all day. the game i play doesnt get updated anymore. so its not like they'd ever move to html which is suppose to be better on ram, right? i also heard that chrome is a bit hungry in ram. so that doesnt help i guess.

at newegg and serching all ddr3. i'd probably go with kingston 4gb for $20 or G.Skill NS series 2 x 4gb kit for $34 if its possible. ive heard some people talk about g.skill. but idk much about them. the latter is better, i know. but ill see what i can do. i just dont want to buy it and find out the machine i use wont accept it for some stupid reason
