I am trying to install webmin on ubuntu server like I have before and it keeps telling me it is "unable to locate package webmin" I figured that it might be when I do the sudo apt-get update it tells me it failed to download some index files and it will use the old ones. Any ideas how to solve this it is a new one to me.

I can download fine I can ping my web server fine and have tried rebooting a few times.

what ubuntu version is it? iirc they recently dropped support for one of their older versions. (like happens every 6 months)

EDIT: 14.10 dropped support in july, thats what i'm thinking of probably.

15.04 server it is the newest one 

from the release notes:

Ubuntu 15.04 will be supported for 9 months for Ubuntu Desktop, Ubuntu Server, Ubuntu Core, Kubuntu, Ubuntu Kylin along with all other flavours.

seeing it released the 4th month, that means support is dropped the 13th month (1st month of the next year - january) that means it *should* still be supported.

 

is it all the index files that fail, or just one or two?

It says only 2 failed.

from what i recall from messing with webmin, i installed it the manual way.

I just web to their site and downloaded the deb and installed it that way. Wonder why it didn't work with in terminal.
