Ram issue?

Go to solution Solved by W-L,

one last question, i want more ram, should i buy the kit for 2 4gbs? would that help?

If you wanted to say try a different kit with the one you have I guess you could but if you want a guarantee that it will work getting a kit of the amount you want in 2X *GB would be best.

Hello, i have a GA-z170x-gaming 5 mobo, when i first built my computer i had 2 4gb ddr4 ram sticks, wanted a upgrade so i bought 2 more, When i install them though computer loops infinitely with an error 55. I checked every slot the all work. what could be the issue here?

Are they the same set of RAM as the originals, try switching them around or reseating them. Sometimes RAM can be a bit of a pain if they aren't from the same set or one kit.

Yeah they are the same exact sticks, i switched them to diff sockets and nothing. they work in 1/3, 2/4. it always gives the error if i install a 3rd/4th ram stick.

you might need to enable XMP? I had the same problem with mine but I underclocked to 1600Mhz and now it all works fine.

Try enabling XMP or underclocking your speed to one below your original. 1866 > 1600

if you're using a 32bit system, the max RAM you can use is 4mb. You may have also got defective RAM sticks. Or possibly you need to reseat them by completely removing and installing.

Try installing just the NEW sticks, to see if they're the problem. If it is, try removing 1 and boot again. Even if it doesnt boot, try the other one. If they both dont work, then uhhh...get new sticks.

My Build:

Processor: Intel Core i5 4590 @ 3.3ghz

Memory: 8gb Kingston HyperX Fury 1866mhz RAM (2x4gb)

Cooling: Swiftech H220-X2

Case: NZXT S340 Elite Tempered Glass

Power Supply: EVGA GS650 650W

Lighting: NZXT Hue+

xmp did nothing

What RAM are you using exactly?

Kingston Fury sticks don't have XMP they use a pug and play system which just works 99% of the time, only problem is when mixing stuff around this can occur, does your motherboad have a default or mem test button, it will usually try to sort things out if it can.

so keep lowering my ram speed, put in ram sticks untill it works?

Yeah it's going to be a bit of a guessing game to see if they will work with each other and if it's stable, afterwards running a mem test would be a good idea. If it gives you errors though you may want to look into getting a dedicated kit of RAM.

Hmm I'm not too sure what else can really be done tbh I really doubt it will change but maybe try resetting the CMOS, if it doesn't work you might have to try and get a single kit instead.

Can you help me out with some of those kits you were talking about?

Like theses, where the RAM should work with each other without problem within that set, but maybe ask around to see if others have a solution, I'm not too sure what else can be done really:

Maybe if you can try returning the new set you got for a replacement to see if it will work so you don't have to replace everything, it's hard to say with RAM sometimes it has a tendency to not work well with another set.

fixxed it but a bit confused, so in order to have 3 sticks i had to lower it to 1600hz, 4 sticks 1300 hz, is it best just to keep 2 sticks at 2166 or 4 at 1300?
