I go with the arctic cooling mx-4, its rather cheap as well

I really like the non-metallic aspect because I'm considering delidding my cpu

and i don't want any scratches that could be caused by metallic shards

I think the "Best" is supposedly indigo xtreme right? I am not sure if it is counted as a thermal paste but it seems like it works the best in terms of heat dissipation..

Personally, i just use MX4 or AS5. Both are relatively inexpensive, easy to find and give great results!

Phobya He-grease works really well, but one of the best mainstream/widely available pastes is MX-4 or the Noctua Stuff (forget what its called)

If you want to delidd your cpu, there is only one kind of thermal paste that is worth voiding your warranty, and that is Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra. You will get your temps 20c lower then any other thermal paste when doing so. Just a heads up just in case you didn't know about Coollaboratory already :)

I use TIM Consultants Quantum. In my tests it did as good or better than MX-4 and Artic Silver and it is cheaper than both of those.

It is pretty thick at room temperature, but spreads out very nicely. I get ~4 applications per syringe and 1 syringe is $4.65 with shipping to where I live. Really good deal in my opinion.

You can buy it directly from the manufacturer: http://tim-consultants.com/matrix2.html

The shipping cost is the same no matter how many you order so I got 4 last time I ordered. I have only used 1.

Picked up some Arctic Silver Ceramique at Radio Shack for cheap. Took tons of flak for it on OCN but turns out it is actually pretty highly rated stuff and non conductive...

Mayonnaise! (seriously someone did this and it worked...)

I use IC Diamond 7 but I would never use it on a processor without a heat spreader (either a delidded Ivy or an athlon XP...you know if you still have one of those hanging around). While it is an amazing thermal compound the diamond dust in it acts like polishing compound and will remove the lettering on top of your processor with very little movement at all. Imagine what that would do to your poor integrated circuits...

Just make sure you warm it up before applying because it is really, really thick.
