Gta v frame drops

Leo_Dahlin

Hi i have intel core i5 6600k and a gigabyte 980 ti. When i play gta my frames drop to around 30 constantly in grassy areas then it goes up in not very grassy areas. And in the city it sometimes drops to like 40 fps and goes up again. And all this is when the graphics card is around 69-70 degrees celsius. Super weird and it started yesterday (bought gta 5 days ago) idk what i can do its like it laggs when its hot

Please help :(

Either it's thermal throttling (slowing down under extreme heat to cause less additional heat) or your running settings which are out of your reach. Are you running the game in 4K? Though the 980 Ti is a 4K GPU, it still cannot handle extreme settings at 4K.

What resolution are you running? My 980 Ti gets over 60 in all areas.

1080p lol (im gonna get a 1440p monitor) i used to get 60+ fps everywere like 2 days ago, the weird stuff started yesterday. Well my settings are half extended distance scaling and shadows distance, msaa x4, grass high, and some ultras and very highs. And its around 70-100 fps most of the time. And when i turn of "ignore suggested limits" it says "using more than your allotted graphics card memory can result in serious performance drops and stability issues" but im only using 3541mb / 6144mb video memory........
