When building a computer how would you know what parts to get exactly? My build will be ready (I'll have the funds before winter) soon and I'm unsure at which parts to get. I understand what is compatible together but let's say for example you got an MSI Z87-GD65 gaming motherboard for $190. What other parts would you stick in with that? I don't wanna have a $200 motherboard and everything else is for example $40. I hope you guys understood what I'm trying to say lol. Best example I guess would be with the video card. $600 vid card with $60 motherboard... I know it wouldn't be that drastic but I just wanna make sure I'm doing it right.

You have some serious research to do my friend! Everyone does it before they do their first build, enjoy! If you have any specific questions we can help, but it looks like you need to do some homeowork.

I'm using a £40 mobo, £120ish CPU and a £320ish GPU, the only time I really notice bottlenecking is in really demanding games like Crysis, Metro and so on. Other than that, I get 60 FPS ultra settings in nearly every other game.

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 @ Stock, CPU cooler: Dark Rock 4, Motherboard: MSI B450M PRO-M2 MAX, RAM: 2x8GB Crucial Ballistix DDR4 @ 3000Mhz, GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 ACX 3.0, SSD: Crucial P1 1TB M.2 + 2x120GB SSDs, Case: Corsair 110R, PSU: Corsair TX650M, OS: Windows 10 64-bit.

I've already read this Wood. It didn't really help out with my question :) as it gets closer to winter I'm stressing out about my first build. I hope you can understand that :)

http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/45762-pick-me-some-parts/?fromsearch=1 there is the discussion about it and here is my overall build http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/Johnnyboy519/saved/2gcs it's missing a keyboard and an OS.

Alrighty. I'll check this out. It seems you edited the OP since you first posted it.

I'm pretty set on the graphics card, psu, case, ram, cpu/cooler, case and the mouse. The motherboard could be switched depending on recommendation (no mini or micro please). Storage I would switch all between 1TB Seagate, WD or maybe Kingston. Kinda set on the SSD. Just debating on if I need 250gigs or just 120. The psu seems nice to me. Seasonic 80+ bronze 620w semi modular.

What part do you think was edited?

Edit: in the other topic I took your advice on the video card but not the motherboard. For some reason (I don't know why) I just can't stand the look of a mini or micro motherboard. Probably the size. I know you said standard ATX wasn't needed I still prefer the size and look
