i'm gonna say neither. the antennas on both of them will be stuck behind your box, literally having zero reception from access points that are blocked by your case.

i know from some second hand experience that its not a good idea.

(theres things i could think of to try, but the person in case likes to run away from problems so...)

IDK, but the PCE-AC56 is an older version of the 66 i believe. PCE-AC68 is the latest Asus model for what it's worth. It runs around 99 bucks.

Is the PCE-AC68 really good?

It got a good review, but there isn't a lot of them I can find. One thing was said is that it runs hot so don't put it in a case with bad ventilation. They came out with it because the 66 had problems in Haswell pased systems and the 68 fixed that. Also it has the antennas, or external antenna array on  meter long cord for good reception (placement). It's based on the BCM94360 which is the most current Broadcomm as far as I know.

TPLink is great too, they are the OEM for Netgear stuff.

I hate behind the box too, but It depends on where it is as well. I just went on ebay and bought the one asus bundles with the new boards and upgraded the included card on my maximus V formula. I had those little asus white circle ones and hated them, got the black rectangle to match my case.

Honestly don't know if it will. I'd bet you'll get better reception because of better antennas, but I'd ask on the Asus forums. Maybe someone actually has both and can tell you.

I went from a wireless N WNDR4300 netgear to the AC 7500 v2, but have had the same broadcom mini pcie adapter with same external antenna so I can't tell you how much the card vs usb model will get you. I just know antennas are just as important as the card.

My internet speed is 200Mbps right now I'm only getting 20Mbps an a max of 70Mbps. I'm somewhat far away from my wireless router.

if you are concerned about antennas placement issues

https://pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-wireless-network-card-7260hmwdtx1

the Intel Wifi card has external receivers which you can paste to the wall for better signals
