Hello,

I'm thinking of getting some astro a40's, just wondering if I need a soundcard or not. And if there are any other headphones that you would recommend instead.

Thanks

not if you get them with the mixamp but just get some headphones and a modmic instead you could get hd 558's, m50's or ad 700's and get something like a filo e10

the mod mic doesn't have very good audio quality, you can get a much better sounding desktop mic sush as a blue snowball for $60 and pair that with a good pair of headphones such as the previously recommended sennhesier hd558.

OP said they're getting Astro A40's. Soo no need for a modmic. besides there are $2 mics that accomplish the same thing if you're not doing any serious audio recording.

OP also asked for other recommendations for headphones/headsets, so that's what they're doing.  ;)

Hello,

I'm thinking of getting some astro a40's, just wondering if I need a soundcard or not. And if there are any other headphones that you would recommend instead.

Thanks

For the price of the A40's you could get Audiotechnica ATH-M50's, V-MODA Crossfade LP's, Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro 250ohm, or Sennheiser HD 558's.

True. But I think OP should edit exactly what he/she is looking for in a headset or headphones. Max Budget? Use case? etc

Across the vast and majestic gulf of time and space, the jimmies rustle softly.

It would mostly be for gaming but I do a few voice recordings so will need a good mic, the headphones will need to be good quality as I also listen to music videos for bands etc

Then i wouldn't have thought the A40 would cut it soundwise. Thing the recommendation of a desk mic of some sort with some better headphones would be a better choice.

Agreed. OP, you're not gonna get the best quality recording out of any headset or wearable mic of reasonable price, so I'd shoot for a desktop mic. Blue Microphones (a company) are usually what gets recommended for beginners.

Audio-Technica ATH-AD700/x and the blue microphones? good combo?
