Try out Goldwave, it's the VLC of audio editing !

 I've used it for years and I'd say try it !

Which Audio program to use? 

 

basically i want to cut and merge audio files and mess around, i know i can use audacity but will it be enough and easy to use.

 

PS: sorry if wrong place couldn't find anything similar
