Personaly I prefer sennheiser's signature but i dont mind trying something new!  (please not over 400usd)

I use the Sennheiser HD280's.

I can tell they're more accurate on sound reproduction without looking at charts because the people I used to be in a band with who only use dank Sony/Bose/Monster/Beats headphones didn't like them - saying they sound bad.

Sure. Do you have any experience with other headphones? If so, what did you like or dislike about them?

i had sennheiser's 600's, 650's and the beyerdynamic dt 990 pro , the audio technica ath-ad900x and also the k712 pro and the philips x2/27 fidelio

I'm very confused. It sounds like you have already tried many headphones within your budget, including Sennheisers, but you are searching for yet another headphone that isn't one of these headphones, but still might be a Sennheiser, without increasing your budget.

What didn't you like about the HD600/650? Or any of the others for that matter?

In my opinion they had kind of "dark" sound

Even the HD600?

Let's keep going - it would help if you could work *with* us here...

What didn't you like about the:

  • K712 Pro
  • Fidelio X2
  • DT 990
  • AD900X

If you didn't like ANY of these headphones, well, the mid-fi stable of recommendable headphones is wearing thin. I guess the next logical thing to try would be the HE-400S with Focus pads, seeing as you haven't experienced a planar before.

The original post talked about hearing every detail, if you already had the HD600 and even 650 for that matter, that should have been the very detailed sound you wanted.

You need to make a comparison list of the headphones you tried and what you likes/disliked about each.

Don't know why but I have an inkling we are being taken for a ride.

The hd600/650 can be a bit veiled, but what's confusing is you said you preferred their sound signature. What do you usually listen to?

Adding to this, from what I have seen reported, the latest iteration of the 650 is not vieled at all, and is generally described as highly resolving by people who know what they are talking about.

Unless they changed something (again), my cousin does have a pair that I'd often used and compared to my old he400 and it definitely sounded vieled. The hd600 have less of this issue and I prefer them over the hd650 though.

Until now I havent tryied planar heaphones and i think that i should considerate of buying the hi-fi 400i or 400s, but is there a realy big difference?

and also my opinion about the headphones i have already tried out is that fidelio x2 are the best out of these and second comes the dt 990,the ad900x i found and their building quality was  too poor for their price point, as for the k712 they are not my "style".So i think that the best option i have is to try the hifiman he series, what do you think?

Yes, the "planar sound" is different. In some ways better, in some ways worse.

So why are you still shopping for a headphone if you liked the X2? What didn't you like about it?

dt 990,the ad900x i found and their building quality was  too poor for their price point

Of both, or just the AD900X. What about the sound? What did you like or dislike?

Since you've already tried so many headphones, I think you need to give us a better idea of what your preferences are. I'm still having trouble understanding how you managed to go through nearly every mid-fi headphone without coming away with a clear idea of what you want.

If you didn't like all of those I think you'll be generally dissapointed it won't be leaps and bounds better than any of the ones you tried just different..
