As the title said,i have some questions about powering my soon have Galax GTX 970. i went for the 970 not the r9 390 cus i don't live with my mum and i need to pay the electricity bill and price to performace ( electric wise) is not that great.i check Galax's website and it said i need 2x8pins connector to power the GPU. and on the website i needa Power suppy with minimum 500W and a minimum 12V with current rating of 42A. soo i decided to check my power supply website and see if i have the requirement checks.500W checks!. now the 12V is the main problem. it only said +12V1 and 50A. can my power supply Power the GPU without burning,or like overvolting the GPU ??

and while we at this. i have a question about the 8pins connector. yes my power supply got 2 8pins connector from the power supply. but each cable have 2x8pins connector on it. soo in total i have 4x8pins but only 2 cables(check the picture for more details on what i mean) can i run the GPUN from only 1 cable witch have 2 8pins connector or i need to run the GPU from 2 cable and leave the extra connector/jack on each cable? ty.

Replace the PSU - the 970 is no miracle child, it uses about 60W less than a 390 when GPU Boost 2.0 is there (it always is) - to put into perspective, your lightbulb uses 75W

970 uses less, but not less enough to make a huge difference to your bills.

Plus get a new PSU. If you turn that PC on with that PSU, I will slap you through your unpowered monitor

CONSOLE KILLER: Pentium III 700mhz . 512MB RAM . 3DFX VOODOO 3 SLi

Replace that PSU immediately!

i just build this thing ! ain't buying a new one lol. what's wrong with the PSU ? it feels quite solid and run without problem when iam "burning it in" with 72hours idle non stop. [1]

Not sure what to tell you, there are 100$ PSUs that are trash. Segotep are quite bad.

1. That psu has to go. Poorly known companies for PSUs can mean either dead machine, or dead PSU in a few months.

2. My 4460 doesn't get hotter than low 50s Celsius. If you need somthing silent then get a "be quiet!" Pure Rock CPU cooler. Great cooler for $35. Also Noctua fans are great for running a quiet machine. Many people object that it's not necessary if you game with a headset, but when you do watch media you will hear those cheap fans roar.

how would you know ? you experience it ? tell me more..

Just light hearted banter.

I recommend a Antec VP 450.

not available and 970/390 minimum is 500W. no need for PSU recommendation.

you like the psu, it works, thats that

the 2 cables on the single harness will work just fine

No, that is not how the world works.

If you buy a cheap car, you are not going just die out of nowhere.

But if you buy a cheap PSU (That fakes it's efficiency ratings) your PSU is probably going to die very quickly (In most cases) and maybe kill your PC with it.

How did you come to this PSU? It has no protection whatsoever. Throw it as far as you can away from your Hardware.

Get the Corsair RM650i.
