Hey guys!

So basicly I'm in the planning for a new pc project, and looking for just the right case. I've got plenty of time to look for it, and atm I've been looking at three cases.

From Corsair:
Obsidian 900D
Obsidian 800D/700D

From Silverstone:
Temjin TJ11

So basicly I'm looking for cases that has a sleek, and beautiful finish, personally I LOVE the 900D look, but it's too big.
I've been the thinking of getting an 800D and try and mod the front panel to look like the 900D and mod that sidepanel aswell with a similar window as the 900D
Basicly, I smaller 900D is what I want.

From that I've also been looking at the Silverstone Temjin TJ11. Something about that case is just so cool and it's got some still unique features even though its 3 years old now.

I like the look of this case alot aswell, it's sleek, but it's got some nice curves which makes it stand out, but without being over the top. One thing I do not like about it is the 5.25" bays in the front. So I was also thinking if there was a way to mod that front to make it look like a proper unibody.

But as mentioned, I'm in no rush and I have plenty of time to decide and wait to see what is released through the next 9-12 months before I actually start this project.

So this is where I need you guys to help me find a case that is right for me, and for you to help me with that, I have some requirements :)

Requirements:

Most important first

1. Must have a sleek and simple yet interresting design.

2. Must have a celler with room for a tripple/quad radiator and PSU.

3. Must not be too big or too small, about the size of the 800D is the sweetspot.

4. If possible, easy to work with both in terms of building and modding. (The TJ11 is the most modding friendly case I've ever seen).

If there's any other requirements I'll add them as time passes.

Ontop of that, If there's anything interresting mods you think I could do with these cases, feel free to share! :)

But ofcourse, it may very much be that the only cases that actually fits me needs are the cases I've already looked at, but a second set of eyes or more never hurt! :)

So in advance thanks for your help and I'll be looking forward to what you guys can help me find! :)

Everyone have a cool signature. I don't, so I thought I would write something.

- Cool right?

If you're not overly worried about budget something like this might be a good option for you, definitely fits the "premium" specification

Hmm, you know.. I've been looking at the caselabs cases. But they are so boooooorriiiiinnggg... I really don't like the esthetics :/

And that's just a huuge deal-breaker for me.

So I when I was looking at the Temjin TJ11 I was trying to think of a way to hide all of the front bay's(I really don't like the caselabs front bays either, think they are some of the most ugly on earth :/).

In such a fashion that it just looks perfectly plain and right out off the factory. (Might have to repaint it but that's okay).

Maybe I can use some sort of filler?

Also concidered buying some front bay 5.25" bay fan adapters. Like this one:http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=40&area=en
And then get rid of the logo somehow, three of those logo's would look horrible on the TJ11.

Here's a quick photoshop of the Temjin TJ11 with the baycovers removed / covered.

A way I may be able to do this is to first remove all of the covers, fill the hole with a sheet of metal. Cover up the edges of the hole with some filler or something and repaint it. Do you think this could work?

:EDIT:
Next time I'll remember to actually include the photo in the original post  :D (excuse my Photoshop skills)

I would take a look at LD Cooling. They have some premium quality cases

http://www.ldcooling.com/

Take a look at the PC-V8 cases.

ld-pc-v8-reverse-atx-hptx-black-red-xl-w

They come in a variety of different colors and configs (like reversed motherboards etc). If you're mad, you could go with the PC-V10, which i believe includes a phase-change cooler

Hmm, I'm beginning to think that the ones I've already looked at, maybe fits me the best.

The IDCooling ones are too boring and too expensive.

And if I wanted something like the murderbox I would just get the TJ07 and mod it myself.

Although I like the murderbox look very much, and is pretty much what I'm going(mostly), I'd like it to be bigger. And I'd like to mod it myself. Hence the TJ11 or 900/800D.

  • 1 month later...

There is the Phanteks Enthoo Primo. Bill Owen from MNPCTech has done an extensive video review of it on YouTube. It's not a very blank canvas, as the internal layout is sort of planned out already from Phanteks. That being said, the case looks sweet (IMHO), there is a ton of WC-options, and it's mostly screwed together from what I can gather, so deconstructing and modding it shouldn't be too big of a problem.

Just to warn you if you want a triple or quad rad in the basement then the  800D is not option. As far as I know it will only a 240mm rad in the bottom unless you alter where you place the PSU. Id say go with a tj11 or tj07

My rig: i5 2500k, MSI Z77A G45, Gainward GTX 980 Phantom, 8GB Corsair Vengeance, OCZ ZT series 750W PSU, 1TB HDD, 800D, fully water cooled. I am currently working on modding my HAF 912+ to fit a custom loop, here is the build log: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/165963-project-viridis-water-cooled-haf-912/

you know what, Just order it primed and paint it exactly how you want, or order multi color interior / exterior, its all possible with caselabs, its the most mod friendly case supplier out there.
