20-30 less fps with windowed g-sync in any game

Hello!

 

I'm getting 20-30 fps less when I am running any game in windowed or borderless window with g-sync than fullscreen g-sync. If I turn off g-sync I get the same (higher) fps no matter what display mode it is.

 

Been looking around and not seeing anyone having the same experience as me.

 

Countless driver reinstalls and one windows reinstall has made no difference!

 

Anyone else noticed this fps drop with windowed g-sync?

What games? Some games just do that for whatever reason.

 

I don't have G-Sync, but I do noticed that a few games I normally play will get way worse performance if I'm in borderless windowed mode as opposed to fullscreen.

haven't had such an issue with my 280 or 860M

I thought g sync only worked in full screen mode. I remember Linus saying this when a laptop had g sync

I thought g sync only worked in full screen mode. I remember Linus saying this when a laptop had g sync

 

That was true up until few months ago when NVIDIA GeForce Experience added support for GSync Windowed Mode which is quite rubbish IMO, too many flickering full screen in black and what not .. I'd rather turn off GSync for Borderless Windowed Mode than to play it with GSync because how bad it is .. such as shame because GSync on Full Screen is just heaven.

What games? Some games just do that for whatever reason.

 

I don't have G-Sync, but I do noticed that a few games I normally play will get way worse performance if I'm in borderless windowed mode as opposed to fullscreen.

 

All games i routinely play; world of warcraft, black ops 3, battlefield 4, battlefront, gta 5, they all lose 20-30 fps : /

Funny enough, I only have that in certain games such as AC Syndicate where they explicitly tell you not to run the game in Windowed mode. I do a lot of multi-tasking thus I always game in window mode and not use G-Sync as much when gaming and working at the same time, so having these issues in the games is a big deal for me.

 

However .. I don't get that much of an fps drop. There's something else what's wrong here .. could be the game(s) you're playing but if it's happening in each and every game then obviously it's not the games.

 

I don't get 25-30 fps drops in most of the games you mentioned so it's quite strange, could be on the driver side? Use the NVIDIA Driver remover tool and do a totally fresh install of latest driver and see if that helps or at the last resort, just do a fresh OS if you can and #F*ckItAll
