You're not a YouTube partner.

 

Here's how it works in plain simple steps:

  1. You start up with YouTube like every other person
  2. You upload videos
  3. If your videos get watched a lot (like 10000+ views), you'll get an e-mail from YouTube, telling you that you've been selected for a YouTube partnership and how you can activate it.
  4. You activaate the partnership and turn on monetization on your videos

I have been reached out by Google to monetize my videos, after this video reached something like 15000 views. I opted not to do it as my account is purely for fun and I hate advertising :P

 

Also: don't expect to make any serious money out of it as long as you don't have like 150000 subscribers.

 

That's not really how it works anymore though. Everyone can monetize their videos today as long as they live up to the requirements (no copyrighted content etc etc).

I became a youtube partner and I only average around 20 views, although I don't actually monetise any content. I just wanted custom thumbnails

Because it can get quite annoying having 4 new topics every day about random questions spamming the forums.

I'm a YouTube Partner! Just saying.. I could advertise but I get barely any views and I don't like ads (who does) I don't like to bother my viewers with them since I don't need the money to live.
