Project Goals

The Goal of this project is to take Alice to the next level; although I originally planned to rebuild alice with an Xeon and some other nice hardware,

I decided I'll let my sister have the motherboard and cooler for that and build her a rig from scratch and I'll just keep my current rig and upgrade her.

But what about the old hardware?

Do not worry, young one, I will be giving the old hardware some use in a PC I will be giving my younger sister.

Okay, cool; but what about hardware?

I'm unsure as of yet but this is what I expect to have in Alice by the time I am done.

AMD Athlon 5350 Quad-core processor @ 2.05Ghz (Speed may change if I decide to overclock)

Overclock capable MSI AM1-I Motherboard

Samsung 3.5" 250GB 7200RPM HDD

Seagate 2.5" 250GB 7200RPM HDD (To be replaced with a better, faster 1TB+ drive)

8gigs of DDR3 1600Mhz RAM

Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

Where can i find the original Alice project page?

Current Status

Waiting on parts.

Project Goals

The Goal of this project is to take Alice to the next level; with mostly all-new, more powerful hardware.

I will also be installing a modified version of Windows 10 using a custom boot screen, login screen, and customized wallpapers.

But what about the old hardware?

Do not worry, young one, I will be giving the old hardware some use in a PC I will be giving my younger sister for christmas.

Okay, cool; but what about hardware?

I'm planning to use the following parts but this could change without warning

Intel Celeron 2 Quad Q6600, or Xeon x3220, depending on support by motherboard

Asus IPIBL-IA socket LGA775 motherboard (OEM)

Unidentifiable Coolermaster cooler w/ backplate, fan and screws.

Same awesome case from the original Alice

EVGA 100-W1-0430-KR Powersupply

8 GB DDR2 800mhz NON-ECC RAM for Intel CPU

Possibly a custom vinyl decal

Foam air filters

Can I help?

I don't really know, I have to first find out if my mom would allow people to send stuff to our house.

Pretty cool build.

Good luck.

Thanks, I found some classic 90's and 00's case mods that I think will look good with Alice, more details later.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'll be starting work on wednesday when my Christmas break starts. While I am hoping that I will be recieving at least a new powersupply I'm not going to complain if I don't. Money is very tight in my family. I won a $100 walmart giftcard so a new processor is on the way and is expected to arrive on the 31st. After that and christmas shopping I gave the card to my mom to use for food.

Things to do
[Key: Red = Not done, Blue = In progress, Green = complete]

Create adapters and other stuff using old connectors and spare powersupply parts.

  Repair LED bars on case.

  Repair USB.

(Possibly) find workarond to connect front-panel audio

  Make repairs to fans

  Do some dust removal

Cut and install foam filters, possibly use left over foam for sound proofing

Clean room (I have too much computer junk, lol)

My procrastination is the bane of my existence.

I make games and stuff in my spare time.
