Windows Embedded?

What is Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry Enterprise? Google couldn't explain it properly.

 

(I've never heard of Embedded versions before)

Embedded versions of Windows OSs are - if I remember rightly - highly stripped back versions of operating systems that provide just a kernel and a platform for the user to create a program for a specific purpose, such as an information kiosk.

Just think of it as a very stripped down varient of Windows to run on systems as a base for the software required to run.

But that's not what it is. I ran 8.1 embedded on my laptop for the longest time. It's just Windows 8 without the bullshit. Aka music app video app Etc.

It's good because I don't need all the bullshit. Games run well on it.
